Foundation Talentueux, or KAST (Kongolese en Angolese Stichting Talentueux), organizes trainings, conferences and other activities and includes a Helpdesk. Reports on several of these activities are available.

Activities and Projects
From 2002 KAST has been organizing several activities. Within the framework of the forming process the executive committee has been cooperating closely with FORUM; the Institute for Multicultural Development.

The executive committee of KAST has also been participating in several activities being organized by FORUM and Stichting Mondiale Samenleving. These pojects deal with cases like setting up framework group, projectmanagement, guidance on social benefits and how to deal with the Dutch Centre for Work and Income (Centrum voor Werk en Inkomen).
 

Some of activities organized by KAST are:

1. A multicultural evening for women from the Democratic Republic Congo, Angola, and other countries. A summer camp for kids and parents about 'Educating In Two Cultures'.
2. Conferences dealing with the elections in the DRC informing Congolese on the preparations of these elections.
3. Supporting an agricultural project in the DRC to decrease poverty in this country.
4. Congolese and Angolan culinary days.
5. Swimming education for women and men.
6. Sports days for foreigners and natives.

 

Nationwide involvement

KAST is the only Congolese and Angolan organisation setting up activities on a national scale. KAST cooperates with most of the Congolese and Angolan organisations which are based in The Netherlands. KAST is a member of Afrika Netwerk, SEVA, Congo Netwerk Nederland and foundation “ Stichting Minderheden Orgaan” from Veenendaal. Foundation “Kongolese en Angolese Stichting Talentueux” is also supported by COS Utrecht.
 

 


International Participation

On an international scale the foundation closely cooperates with other international organisations.

In Belgium KAST is supported by various Congolese organisations and cooperates with Afrika Synergie concerning a project regarding Microcredit. The project Profit Health by Afrika Synergie in The Netherlands is supported by KAST.

In the Democratic Republic Congo KAST cooperates with e.g. Ceprobedi and CADIC, both being NGO organisations. Furthermore KAST is joining various international meetings about DRC and Angola.

 

Expeditions
Being subsidised by Xplore, KAST visited the DRC twice together with youth from The Netherlands. In 2007 a group of 18 young people between 12 and 30 years old visited the DRC. In Kinshasa they worked in nursing homes, hospitals and a home for street children.

The second visit of KAST in DRC was together with 13 youg people in Mbanza-Ngungu on the countryside. They have been working in the agriculture for 14 days.
 

Since December 2007 has been stimulating meetings between local residents in Veenendaal in several areas. These meetings are structured by seminars subsidised by the Ministry of VROM, please read about these seminars on www.veenendaalinbeweging.nl.
